As of this morning, all threads seem to display in a larger font. The strange thing is that quoted text remains at its previous size so I don't think it's my pc that's acting up. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

It's me playing around again. I'll quickly change it back until the complete change is ready.

Laughing And I thought I wasn't fully awake yet. Pretty frightening since I just drove 60km on a crowded highway...not a place where you want to be when you're still sleeping.

I thought my eyesight had suddenly gotten better. I guess I still need to get a new presciption for my glasses. The small print is getting harder and harder to read again.

That is just Frank Naude teasing you by gradually decreasing the fontsize making you believe it's your eyesight that is diminishing Wink

Barbara, then you probably love the 'zoom' functionality in Firefox (certainly in combination with Mouse gestures).

I have been using Firefox for a while, but never really explored all of its features. I found that each ctrl with + enlarges the text and each ctrl with - makes it smaller and ctrl with 0 returns it to normal, and I love it. But I don't understand what you mean by "in combination with mouse gestures". Is there more functionality that I have not discovered?

Hmm. I think this big font is a bit too big! Have you looked at using a serif font? They are much easier to read than sans-serif fonts.

Mouse gestures is a FF extension. Basically it comes down to this: while holding the right mouse button you make a certain gesture. This gesture triggers a FF action (like opening a link in a new tab). Once you get used to this you'll adore it. For example: zooming in is moving "Southeast" and zooming out moving "Northwest".

Thanks for the link and info. I am using a notebook computer with a touchpad and two buttons below that, not a typical mouse, although I could attach one. Holding a button with one finger while moving another finger across the touch pad requires some dexterity and can easily produce unintended results. So, I think I will stick with using ctrl key combinations and clicking on menu items.

Is it just me or are the fonts enlarging again?

Nope, it's also me. The fonts of the lists seem larger.

Ahh...I'm on a different pc, probably a different browser version than I'm usually on, and saw the larger forum titles, and was a tad confused until I got to this thread.

For me, at the moment, the whole site looks normal except the forum titles in the main listings, which look Big. The message titles might be Big as well. Changing font size in the browser off of the standard medium setting doesn't do anything to them.

Oh, and on the main forum listing page, it looks like it is wider than normal. The rest of the pages all fit neatly into one window width, on my 800x600 resolution display. The main page doesn't, causing me to scroll to the right to see it all.

On a slightly less related topic, when you said "hold the right mouse button down and make some gestures", you really had me laughing.

The font size was changed from 9px to 9pt (pixels to points). Apparently it scales better in IE.

Personally I prefer using em units as it scales relative to the user's font size. However, that is not a straight forward conversion.

When I first read the part about "while holding the right mouse button you make a certain gesture", it had me wondering for a little while. My first thought was, what sort of gesture? Do I shake my fist at the computer or point a finger at it? Is this guy pulling my leg? Is he going to suggest that I stand on one leg, while I pat my head and rub my tummy? I had never heard of mouse gestures, but after clicking on the provided link and doing a little additional googling, I found that they are legitimate firefox add-ons.

Once I was called to a location regarding a computer problem when the usual person that handled that location was unavailable. The user there informed me that he had been faithfully performing the required spin-dry maintenance every week. I couldn't imagine what he was referring to, so he showed me the menu item and ran it for me. The program purported to remove any excess moisture from the personal computer and made sounds that were similar to a washing machine, followed by a flushing toilet. Upon opening up the computer, I found that whoever installed the latest hard-drive replacement had not secured the side rails and it was wiggling all over the place and bumping its connecting wires.

And, of course, there is always the new person going from desk to desk looking for someone who has a left-handed monkey wrench that they can borrow, because they were told that was what they would need to fix something.
