My computer has 7 partitions c,d,e,f,g,h,i. have Windows 2000 advanced server in c: and Windows XP in d:.Then I installed oracle in both windows 2000 and windows xp. The home for windows 2000 - oracle is c:oracle and for windows xp it is d:oracle. Now the problem I am facing is in case of windows 2000 the oracle is running normally but for xp the instance failed to start. I found that the oracle in xp is using the oracle.exe from c:oraclebin directory.

This amazed me. How can the oracle in one os can access the exe file from a different os and partition altogether.

What are the changes I have to incorporate so I can run oracle from both the os.

Thanking you.
