I am Rashid Ali Bhatti from pakistan & i want some information about the difference between Oracle8 and Oracle8i,Oracle9i.
I want to know that I was study Oracle8 and a want to switch completely on oracle9i but I have found oracle9i entirely different from oracle8 I have cd's of "Oracle9i application server" but I don't know how to install and use it because there is no database and
developer to install.
I want to know how much deference between these and how can I learn it.
Thanks....

Hi sarvesh kumar, the search produced this:
http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/120192/43055/?srch=difference+8+8i#msg_120192

And both 8 and 8i are desupported so the question is actually irrelevant...

So can u please tell us your conclusion.

Note:- Read new feature of oracle 9i Wink

From 8i ... oracle is not RDBMS it is OODBMS (object oriented database management system)

No it's not.An ORDBMS perhaps. But basically it's a relational database management system with object oriented features. It's core is still relational.

An OODBMS would be something like Jasmine (does it still exist?).
